This collection pays homage to marine carpenters, those artisans of wood who for centuries perfected the craft of water-proofing ships, a crucial skill since the dawn of sailing. Traditionally, trees were felled between the months of September to December and in accordance with a specific lunar phase for each type of tree being harvested. For example, beech trees should be chopped down during a waxing crescent moon, while in the case of oak, a waning moon is the preferable phase. Master carpenters believed that not following these rules would result in the wood becoming blighted. From antiquity to our time, the rich variety of Mediterranean ships is an identifying trait of the people of the region, a richness that Decotec has infused into all the designs of this collection.
