Thassos

Pinus brutia extends through the countries of the eastern Mediterranean. It is a resistant species that supports saline and dry soils. They are the only or almost the only source of wood and forest cover in many Mediterranean countries. The wood of these Mediterranean pines has multiple uses: construction, industry, carpentry, firewood and pulp. The seeds are also used in gastronomy.
